Job Description
The Vartanian Lab at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York city is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to lead a project investigating the role of bacterial toxins in overcoming CNS immune privilege and driving neuroinflammation. The project involves mouse models of autoimmunity and neuroinflammation, transcriptional profiling in collaboration with our bioinformatics core facility, establishing molecular pathways of interest, temporal and cell-specific deletion of genes, virus-mediated gene delivery and knockdown in animals, and ultimately determining how certain bacterial toxins function at CNS barriers to overcome CNS immune privilege.
Candidates will work with bulk and single cell RNA seq, adenovirus, confocal microscopy, Cre/lox methods to generate conditional mutant mice, con-focal and other advance microscopy methods, mouse models of autoimmunity and neuroinflammation.
A Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience, immunology, or similar fields and a strong publication record are required. The candidate will be expected to have experience in standard methods used in cell biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry. Experience in rodent colony management and behavioral assessments is preferred. It is important that the candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, works well in a highly collaborative environment across institutions, and is scientifically rigorous.
