Research and develop new epitaxial growth processes!
Background
The development of semiconductor-based devices for logic applications is driven by both material innovations and transitions in device design. To achieve the objectives of these devices, new epitaxial growth methods are needed to enable higher-performing generations of devices. As a member of the Epitaxial Growth group, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and characterizing Group-IV epitaxial growth processes in imec’s 200mm and 300mm pilot lines.
What you will do
As a technical R&D expert, you will be directly involved in imec’s research programs and bilateral R&D projects. Your role will include researching and developing new epitaxial growth processes for complex Si/SiGe multi-stacks and implementing them in the device fabrication of Nanosheet-based CMOS devices like CFET. You will also study the material properties of the grown layers and work closely with integration and device engineers. You will be responsible for defining milestones and timelines and ensuring timely project execution. You will maintain close relationships with equipment and material suppliers to stay up to date with new technologies and characterization techniques and assess their potential for future technologies. You will contribute to the group’s strategy and roadmap, report your scientific findings internally to colleagues and partners, and disseminate your learnings through journal papers and conference presentations.
What we do for you
We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process; not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, ‘our corporate university’, we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.
We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.
Who you are
As the ideal candidate for this position, you will have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering and professional experience in semiconductor technology. You will be passionate about application-driven development, data interpretation, and process improvement and will be driven to achieve high-quality results. Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of epitaxial Chemical Vapor Deposition techniques and familiarity with material characterization techniques are preferred. The candidate has a strong background in materials for semiconductor applications and be a team player who can easily integrate into an international team of professionals. Strong organizational skills and flexibility to change between projects according to changing priorities are essential. The candidate should also be proactive, persuasive, and self-assured while maintaining a constructive attitude.
