Job Summary and Primary Responsibilities
Defines, designs and implements network communications and solution improvements. Proposes system enhancements to improve the performance and reliability of the system. Participates in the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Works hands-on with servers, network equipment and actively monitors systems for attacks and intrusions. Works with other teams to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. Focuses on scaling and automating security infrastructure and processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Protect network boundaries and provides security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information
- Evaluates software and hardware technologies and products
- Helps to create and maintain network diagrams and supporting network documentation
- Participates in the design, development and implementation of disaster recovery procedures
- Contributes to departmental compliance to technology and architectural strategies, and adheres to architectural practices through development, delivery, and operation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Capabilities
- Possess scripting ability with a focus on security, performance, and legibility
- Solid communication and presentation skills
- Proficient with Windows and Linux system administration and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of software automation production systems, including code deployment
- Able to construct and execute network, server, and application statuses
Education and Experience
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
Travel and/or Physical Requirements
- Minimal travel, should be able to lift 30 lbs.
