Research Associate
Headquartered in Berkeley, California, Neurobehavioral Systems (NBS) has been developing high-precision scientific software for more than two decades. Built upon Presentation® — our flagship experiment creation software — we recently developed the AI-supported California Cognitive Assessment Battery (CCAB) to bring state-of-the art cognitive testing into patients’ homes.
NBS is seeking a highly motivated full-time research associate to assist in NIH-funded research programs to develop improved tele-medical tests to detect subjects at future risk of accelerated cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease. Testing will focus on underserved communities including African Americans, Latinos, and Asian American / Pacific Islanders.

Responsibilities:
- Recruit, schedule, and remotely administer our computerized cognitive assessment.
- Maintain detailed records of subject participation.
- Pilot software iterations, convey technical issues, and guide the development team in future improvements.
- Configure and maintain research study hardware/software and coordinate the delivery/retrieval of test units from subjects’ homes.
- Complete data analysis under the guidance of senior research staff, assist in manuscript production, and present results at scientific conferences.
- Support senior research staff in completing NIH grant submissions and progress reports, as well as ensuring IRB, HIPAA, and FDA compliance.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess:
- A BA or MA in neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, or a related discipline.
- Research experience with human subjects.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Analytical, reasoning, scientific writing, and organizational skills.
- Conversational ability in Spanish
- Authorization to work in the US.
Preferred But Not Essential:
- Subject recruitment experience.
- Research publications.
- Experience working with underserved communities.

Compensation: The position offers a competitive salary and excellent employee benefits in an academic-style, start-up atmosphere. The employee will be expected to work primarily from a home office. NBS offices are located in downtown Berkeley, CA, about 100 yards from the UC Berkeley Campus.
Starting Date: Immediate.
Duration: Permanent position, seeking two year minimum.
