Job Summary

We are seeking an independent contractor Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) at the Surrey Neuroplasticity clinic (SNPC). 

Join our team of dedicated therapists, researchers, and scientists as we strive toward impacting 1 billion brains. The successful candidate will utilize a broad range of skills and experience in providing therapeutic services to populations with Acute Trauma, Concussion & Brain Injury, Chronic Pain, Neurological Conditions, Musculoskeletal Injuries, and Mental Health related challenges.

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing care to clients presenting with various injuries and conditions
  • Active participation in team conferences/ rounds involving clients and interdisciplinary team members
  • Ability to work within a structured interdisciplinary team
  • Independently manage caseload with support from team lead and admin
  • Provide and carry out consultation and treatment plans to clients
  • Provide ongoing support for clients
  • Maintenance of accurate electronic clinical records
  • Regular communication and collaboration with health team members (internally and externally) and referral sources
  • Quality report writing
  • Psychological case management input to assessment, treatment planning, stakeholder discussions/problem-solving, conflict resolution, risk management, and discharge planning
  • Ongoing involvement in professional development independently and with the team
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Currently registered and in good standing with a regulatory body in BC
  • Master’s Degree (Required) – MEd, MA in Counselling Psychology 
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Previous experience with ICBC, LTD, and/or WorkSafe BC referrals an asset
  • 1-year experience in a Return to Work setting In-person an asset
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills; strong interpersonal skills
  • Clinical experience with neurological populations (e.g., post-concussion, persistent pain) is an asset
  • Experience/ training in the following theoretical orientations an asset: CBT, ACT, Polyvagal theory, Somatic therapy, Trauma-based courses (not just trauma-informed approach)

 

The Finer Details

  • This is an independent contractor position starting with 16 hours per week with the possibility of having more hours as the caseload increases.
  • The ideal candidate should be available Monday to Wednesday preferred but not mandatory. 
  • Treatment sessions are booked one-on-one for ~50 minutes with time to complete charting. Initial consultation sessions could be longer, depending on the situation. You will have enough time to “get into it”
  • In-person availability is mandatory however you may see clients virtually depending on their preferences.
