(Senior) Business Development Manager – Sustainable Semiconductor and 3D Integration Technologies

We are looking for two (Senior) Business Development Managers to create and grow R&D collaboration business in the fields of (i) sustainable semiconductor manufacturing technology, and (ii) 3D system integration & quantum computing, respectively.

What you will do

Within the business segment Semiconductor and System companies, you will address companies that have specific technology needs to drive their products forward towards sustainable manufacturing technologies and who want to further scale their systems based on 3D integration and chiplet technology. 

 

As a (Senior) Business Development Manager, your main tasks will be: 

  • Based on your good knowledge of the semiconductor fabless and system players, you will build and manage a portfolio of customers for a range of different imec technologies such as logic and memory CMOS technologies, sustainable semiconductor technology and systems (SSTS), 3D integration and chiplets, integrated photonics and quantum computing devices.
  • For the position focusing on sustainable semiconductor technologies, you will build an ecosystem consisting of system companies, chip makers and material & equipment suppliers enabling improving the ecological footprint of semiconductor manufacturing along the value chain. You will coordinate business interactions and round table discussions to identify technical and business opportunities and roadmaps. You will closely work with the technical teams for the business aspects of the collaborations.
  • For the position focusing on 3D system integration and quantum computing you will generate leads and discover opportunities for collaboration in our research programs and for dedicated 3D system integration and Qubit bilateral developments. 
  • In all cases you will develop the optimal business model together with our IP and legal teams, and together with our technical teams you will shape the offering.
  • You take the lead in negotiating and finalizing contracts with the customer.
  • You track progress during the whole solution delivery and monitor customer satisfaction.
  • You stay in contact with the customer monitoring customer satisfaction, and you clearly communicate current and future customers’ needs internal stakeholders.
  • You represent imec at external trade shows and exhibitions.
  • You report to the Business Line Director of this market segment.
  • This position requires onsite presence in Leuven, Belgium in average 3 days per week.

Who you are

We are looking for a highly motivated person with the following assets: 

  • You have a Master’s degree (preferably in electronics or physics) with strong business acumen and customer orientation. 
  • You have interest or experience in sustainable semiconductor technology or in 3D system integration, or quantum computing respectively.
  • You have some experience in sales and/or business development, preferably in market making use of semiconductor technologies and design methodologies. 
  • You have an understanding of business models and IP licensing. 
  • You have experience in discussing with technical leadership of companies and negotiating business terms in contracts.
  • You love to keep yourself abreast of the latest evolution of these techniques and technologies. 
  • You are a strong communicator, very customer-oriented and diplomatic. 
  • You can extend your internal and external networks and can talk and confer on technical, legal and business-related matters. A relevant network and experience in a technical-commercial function is a plus. 
  • You can adequately judge problem situations and opportunities, recognize priorities and act accordingly in a flexible manner. 
  • You are a team player, working closely with the technical teams, legal and IP team and the regional partnership teams
  • You enjoy regular traveling to wherever business opportunities arise (approx. 20%)
  • You are fluent in English; other European languages are an asset.
  • You are willing to relocate to Belgium.
