Description

Williams College Department of Psychology seeks candidates for a one-year visiting position in neuroscience beginning July 1, 2023. Teaching responsibilities will consist of 4 credits (typically 2 per semester) which may include the neuroscience section of a team-taught Introductory Psychology course, a co-taught Introduction to Neuroscience course, upper-level seminars in the candidate’s area of interest, and/or a senior seminar course. We provide visiting faculty with mentoring in teaching including participation in college’s professional development program for new faculty. In addition, visiting faculty have access to our excellent research facilities to engage in research with students. We seek skilled teachers and engaged scholars who will be able to make meaningful contributions to students’ educational and research experiences. We are especially interested in candidates from underrepresented groups and candidates who have experience working with diverse undergraduate student populations. Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be near completion of that degree and experience teaching at the college level.

The teaching statement should include a description of your pedagogical approach, evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., course evaluations), and a brief description of a course you would like to teach as an upper-level seminar (and, if appropriate, what a lab associated with such a seminar might look like). The brief research statement should describe your current research interests, highlighting the ways in which undergraduate students might participate in research with you.  The diversity statement may address your prior experiences with and your approach to building an inclusive learning environment in your teaching, mentoring, research, service, and/or college community, as well as how your commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity informs your teaching and research. Letters of recommendation may be solicited at a later time. For full consideration, applications must be submitted by January 31, 2023.
