As a Sr. SEC Reporting & Technical Accountant at Penumbra, you will play a pivotal role on the Finance team of a high-growth medical technology company.  You will provide technical expertise and support for technical accounting functions, working cross-functionally with accounting staff, legal, and other stakeholders across the organization. This position offers the successful applicant the opportunity to leverage a strong background in technical accounting into a leading role in a dynamic, purpose-driven company.

 

What You’ll Work On

  • Prepare SEC filings and supporting documents, including Form 10-K, 10-Q proxy statement, and other required form filings. Responsibilities include the preparation of footnotes and MD&A and tie-out of financial statements and disclosures.
  • Review required extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging in connection with Form 10-K and 10-Q filings.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated cash flow statements and internal management reports and contribute to presentations for executive management and the Audit Committee.
  • Assist with the internal accounting close process to support acceleration of close schedule and external reporting timelines, as needed.
  • Assist in the evaluation of significant accounting transactions, research and implementation of relevant accounting technical standards, and preparation of technical accounting memos supporting all accounting positions.
  • Responsible for preparing schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations as it relates to technical areas as well as assisting with the close and monthly finance review processes.
  • Prepare data and other supporting information requests as needed for audits and reviews conducted by external auditing firm.
  • Collaborate with internal SOX consultants to ensure that operational and design effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting are maintained.
  • Provide support as required to the SEC Reporting Manager as it relates to the review and execution of contracts.
  • Assist with preparation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Take an active role within the accounting organization to drive goal achievement, while evaluating and recommending process improvements.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.  
  • Understands relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adheres to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
  • Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned on an ad hoc basis.

 

What You Contribute

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and 3+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA preferred, but not required
  • Public accounting preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of SEC Rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of auditing practices and principles

 

Working Conditions

General office environment. Business travel from 0% – 10%. Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and to use a computer, sitting for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

 

Annual Base Salary Range:  $110,000 – $140,000 / year

Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
