Senior Accounting Manager – Finance

The mission of the Allen Institute administration team is to provide support and structure to the scientific divisions. Coinciding with the team science approach, administration helps facilitate team learning and the overall mission of the Institute.
The Allen Institute is currently recruiting for a Senior Accounting Manager. This position is part of the Finance team and is responsible for all Allen Institute accounting functions.

Essential Functions
- Provide timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Work with cross-department employees, senior management, and executives to ensure all sides of transactions are considered and factored into the company’s financial statements
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested
- Collaborate with finance team to support budget vs actual reporting and forecasting
- Oversee all activities of the accounting team, including accounts payable, general ledger accounting, fixed asset, inventory, licenses, royalties, treasury, and taxes
- Develop, mentor and train accounting staff
- Establish policies and procedures that monitor internal controls of corporate assets
- Actively participate and manage the Financial Audit, Single Audit, Indirect Cost Proposal, 990 Tax return and other compliance requirements
- Build relationships across multiple teams to foster a collaborative and productive working relationship

Required Education and Experience
- 10+ years of accounting experience or a related field
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field
- Experience in managing supervisors and/or managers
Preferred Education and Experience
- CPA accreditation
- Expertise in Oracle Fusion with the ability to train others
- Advanced skill level with Excel formulas including pivot tables and charts
- Experience with Grants and Project Accounting
- Non-profit experience
Physical Demands
- Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment. We are a Washington State employer, and the primary work location for all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any remote work must be performed in Washington State.

Annualized Salary Range
- $112,559 – $165,087*
* Final salary depends on required education for the role, experience, and level of skills relevant to the role, along with work location, where applicable.
