Neurosoft Bioelectronics is a neurotech startup focused on building implantable electrodes to interface with the human brain. We work in a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment and are looking for a R&D Engineer to join our dedicated team.

 

The R&D Engineer will be instrumental in developing advanced implantable electrodes that aim to revolutionize the way we interface with the nervous system. This position requires an individual who can work independently and creatively to design, develop, and validate next-generation neurotechnology solutions. The R&D Engineer will work closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and manufacturing team, in both a laboratory and cleanroom environment.

 

Tasks

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of novel implantable electrode prototypes.
  • Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies for new design concepts.
  • Manage material selection, manufacturing process development, and quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the clinical, functional, and manufacturing implications of design choices.
  • Stay abreast of technological advances in the field and leverage this knowledge to drive innovation.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, manufacturing instructions, test plans, and reports.
  • Ensure all designs and processes adhere to applicable regulatory standards.
  • Work in both a laboratory and cleanroom environment

 

Requirements

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (ex. HES), Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field required.
  • At least 2 years of hardware experience in the field of neurotechnology, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. Recent graduates with a strong hardware project portfolio that showcases excellence in these areas are welcome to apply.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment is strongly desired.
  • Proven experience working with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, innovative, and adaptive environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and development of implantable medical devices is an asset.
  • Experience in an ISO 13485 environment and knowledge of US requirements (e.g. 21 CFR 820) are an asset.
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken). German is an asset.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge in the areas of materials, electronics, and/or microfabrication techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking.
  • Strong hands-on skills in experimental design, fabrication, and validation of prototypes.
  • Experience and knowledge of electrochemistry is an asset.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information.
  • Ability to thrive in an independent as well as a collaborative, team-oriented, and challenging environment.
  • Dedication to staying current with new technologies, scientific advances, and industrial trends in the field of neurotechnology.
  • Attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Proficiency in documenting all work reliably and accurately as per QMS standards.
