Job Description

Cajal is seeking a HR/Talent Acquisition Associate motivated by Cajal’s mission to develop new medicines for patients suffering with neurodegenerative disorders. We are a multi-disciplinary team of experienced scientists, combining state-of-the-art approaches in computational biology, functional genomics, high-throughput imaging, translational models, and drug discovery. In a short time, we have assembled a terrific team of talented, innovative, and passionate individuals to transform the field of neurodegeneration drug discovery. We aim to identify novel drug targets based on a deeper understanding into the spatiotemporal progression of disease and translate those discoveries into therapeutics that change the course of neurodegeneration. Cajal is now expanding to establish a world-class drug discovery organization.

As the HR/Talent Acquisition Associate, reporting to the Head of Human Resources, you will support a variety of candidate and employee experience activities alongside a team of collaborative and many-hatted players. As a member of the HR and broader Operations team, you will have many opportunities to contribute to the people function as we continually enhance and evolve our delivery within a growing biotech startup!

Please note: This is a Temporary Part-Time position, anticipated to run to year-end with potential to extend.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support our outstanding team member and candidate experience across employee experience activities, including talent acquisition (TA), onboarding, performance, compliance, engagement and offboarding.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and manage a world class candidate and interview experience, ensuring candidates and interviewers are in the right place at the right time with the information they need.
  • Maintain, organize and track related documents, systems (ATS and other HR/TA systems), processes and metrics, from job descriptions and employee resource guides to offboarding materials and many in between!
  • Serve as a point of contact for candidates and employees, addressing their HR-related inquiries.
  • Document internal TA and HR processes to continue building our repository of ‘how-to-guides’, supporting consistency across practice areas.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Support a variety of employee engagement and administrative support activities across the organization; working across operations teams in our growing startup environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree & 2+ years of directly related Talent Acquisition & HR experience – or – equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • able to work effectively both independently and  as part of a diverse, highly collaborative & hybrid team
  • are passionate about both people and technology
  • are creative and flexible in your work
  • have excellent communication skills
  • are comfortable with ambiguity, able to take charge and get things done despite the unknowns
  • proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • able to learn and manage a variety software programs and systems 
  • available to manage the onsite experience for candidates and employees; flexibility to work remotely on days without onsite needs

 

Important Considerations

  • This is a Part-Time, Temporary position – anticipated to run to year-end with potential to extend.
  • Cajal operates as a hybrid workplace, but we prefer that team members spend part of their time working on-site in our Seattle offices. This role specifically holds onsite requirements; flexibility for remote work is determined by the onsite needs of the day.
  • This opportunity does not offer visa sponsorship or relocation support.
  • The hourly base range for this role is $33 – $38/hour *
  • This is a Part-Time/Temporary, non-benefited position.

*Final salary depends on qualifications, experience, and level of skills relevant to the role, along with location, where applicable.
