Position Highlights          

The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We are especially interested in candidates who will complement and expand our strengths in the analysis of neural circuits, computational neuroscience and/or informatics.

Successful candidates will share our commitment to cutting-edge neuroscience research and graduate/undergraduate education, will have a research agenda with a high potential to attract extramural funding, and will teach courses within the Neuroscience undergraduate curriculum, including an upper-level course in their area of expertise.

Duties & Responsibilities             

  • The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment (60-30-10, Research-Teaching-Service) at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience, within the College of Science.
  • The successful candidate will create a research environment that is inclusive, supportive, and intellectually challenging for all levels of trainees (undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral). The candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, application of effective and inclusive teaching strategies at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and will be expected to contribute more broadly to College and University strategic goals.
  • We seek an enthusiastic educator who will teach and potentially develop courses that contribute to our B.S. program in Neuroscience & Cognitive Science (NSCS). Strong candidates will target research questions that can be funded by diverse funding agencies, including NIH, NSF, and/or DoD. The candidates are expected to develop collaborations within the department and across campus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent) in neuroscience or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience.
  • Record of peer-reviewed original research publications in recognized scientific journals, including at least one postdoctoral publication.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in applying data science techniques to biological problems, which could include artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, multi-dimensional imaging, or other methods.
  • Demonstrated history of securing extramural funds.
  • Experience in inclusive instructional development and delivery for diverse audiences.
