Job Summary and Primary Responsibilities

Supports the activities of research or technical design functions responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating components or integrated circuitry for medical device electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and electrical engineering applications. Collaborates with various engineering teams to develop products that positively affect customers. Reviews development timelines and outlines potential risks for new projects. Maintains knowledge of emerging trends and best practices to lead teams and develop projects that support the most current market applications. Develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

  • Evaluates the final results of research and development projects, providing feedback and insight to help teams meet technical objectives for each project
  • Prepares reports outlining the outcome of technical projects, reviewing the impact on key product metrics
  • Manages system and product-level technical feasibility and evaluates risk assessments
  • Leads the design of new products or modification of existing designs, developing test procedures to improve production techniques
  • Prepares budget requests by forecasting operating costs based on customer demand for products
  • Performs other duties as assigned and communicate duties to direct reports

 

Required Skills / Capabilities

  • Intermediate proficiency developing and reviewing test plans, protocols/test scripts, and result reports
  • Possesses advanced skills in implementing and analyzing electronic and embedded solutions including the ability to perform electronic design calculations
  • Proficient in developing, testing, and debugging digital and analog circuits and systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively interact with varying levels of internal cross-functional teams
  • Able to develop and manage a team while being a contributor to ongoing projects

 

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline preferred
  • Experience designing and developing embedded systems for electromechanical medical devices.  This includes PCB design, debug and testing of ICs and components. 
  • Understand with ability to provide direction surrounding EMI/EMC testing
  • Experience in networking, communication protocols (USB, Bluetooth, etc…) and security
  • Exposure to data collection methods including data analysis and Python

 

Salary Range: $138,000 – $166,000

 

For roles that require access to hospital facilities, must be eligible for and maintain credentials at all required hospitals, including meeting any applicable physical requirements or vaccination requirements (including the COVID-19 vaccine, as applicable).
