Position Summary
The Membership & Engagement Manager is responsible for implementing all SfN membership and chapter activities to help us deliver on organizational goals and objectives, including the execution of SfN’s strategy for the engagement, recruitment, and retention of members around the globe.
Essential Job Functions
- Takes ownership and management of the Society’s individual and institutional membership data and functions related to SfN membership transactions via the association management system throughout the year.
- Oversees the development and implementation of member welcome, engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies in concert with SfN’s marketing and communications teams.
- Facilitates interdepartmental collaboration on member engagement, benefits utilization, messaging, and analysis.
- Manages and executes annual logistics and activities for the Society’s two volunteer committees specific to Membership Engagement – the Global Membership Committee and the Trainee Advisory Committee.
- Serves as an internal staff liaison between member advisory committees and the SfN teams that create the content and programming for our members.
- Executes, analyzes, and interprets member data related to membership sales and trends.
- Supports SfN leadership in the execution of activities with the Society’s global partners.
- Provides operational oversight of activities pertaining to the Society’s global network of chapters; ensures execution of annual events and procedures.
- Serves as a back-up to various membership operations functions needed to execute online sales and support membership.
- Manages relevant portions of the Operations & Volunteer Engagement team’s annual expense and revenue budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises the Membership Operations Associate.
- Delegates effectively, communicates expectations clearly, and provides professional development opportunities.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in non-profit management or business administration preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience managing multiple complex projects concurrently.
- Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience of junior staff or external project partners.
- Experience collaborating across teams and working and senior management staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience collaborating and working with non-profit or association volunteers.
- Ability to motivate and empower team for success.
- Strong organizational, delegation, reasoning, and analytical skills.
- Very detailed oriented.
- Interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Ability to be discreet and confidential regarding work issues is essential.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting with shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated team player, energetic, and self-motivated.
- Experience working with membership databases and AMS systems.

Location:
Remote: Employees can work remotely as part of a 35-hour workweek with core hours from 10am-3pm Eastern time. A reliable high-speed internet connection is essential. Please note that travel will be required for SfN’s Annual Meeting in DC this November.
