Summary

A Research Technician II position is available in Dr. Yang He’s lab starting in September in the section of Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.  The research projects in the group focus on investigating the essential neural mechanisms underlying aberrant eating behavior, energy expenditure, glucose metabolism that can cause obesity and metabolic disease. The lab is looking for a committed research technician with strong organizational skills to assist in mouse colony management and various general lab responsibilities.  The technician will have opportunities to acquire practical, hands-on experience that will greatly contribute to future career growth. 

Job Duties

• Assists in mouse colony management with lab members under PI’s guidance that includes breeding, weaning, genotyping. 
• Coordinates with lab members to conduct research. 
• Orders lab supplies, works on lab organization and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Basic Science or related field.
• Experience working with mouse models.
• Has strong organizational skills.
