Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant/Associate to join our dynamic team. As a Research Assistant/Associate at the Weinberg ALS Center, you will play a critical role in conducting cutting-edge research to unravel the complexities of ALS and contribute to the development of potential therapies. You will work closely with experienced researchers and clinicians, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments, assays, and data analysis related to ALS research projects.
- Perform laboratory techniques such as cell culture using induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-derived neurons, molecular biology, and microscopy.
- Collaborate with senior researchers to design and execute experiments.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and results.
- Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Stay current with the latest scientific literature relevant to ALS research.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (Biology, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, etc.).
- Prior research experience, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases or related areas, is highly desirable.
- Strong laboratory skills and knowledge of relevant techniques and equipment, including molecular biology techniques.
- Experience with mouse colonies maintenance and mouse behavioral analysis.
- Familiarity with imaging techniques.
- Knowledge of basic bioinformatic analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to ethical research practices.
