Job Description Summary

The Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the research area of developmental neurobiology and its disorders. This search is part of a multi-year strategic plan to expand neurodevelopment research at MUSC. Major topics of interest include, but are not limited to, mechanisms of neural development, neuroimmune biology, and circuit development and plasticity. We are interested in applicants that use cutting-edge molecular and genetic technologies, methods for modeling human neurobiology, and/or in vivo recording techniques, to study key questions in the field of neurodevelopment. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with appropriate research expertise and are expected to possess an outstanding record of high-quality publications, a strong potential to secure extramural research funding, and a clear commitment to promoting workplace diversity in all its forms.

Job Description

The research-oriented department comprises a successful PhD graduate program, two NIH-funded T32 training grants for pre- and postdoctoral scholars, two NIH Center grants, and a recently established NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Neurodevelopment and its Disorders.
