29 Nov Postdoc – fMRI, neurostimulation, and addiction
The Cognitive Control lab at Indiana University Bloomington (led by Prof. Joshua Brown) is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work on novel neurostimulation methods combined with fMRI to study addiction and cognitive control.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research program studying addiction with fMRI computational modeling, and neurostimulation, including new temporal interference neurostimulation technology, as a collaboration among Profs. Joshua Brown and Peter Finn at IU Bloomington, and with Prof. Leslie Hulvershorn at IUPUI. The candidate will also find opportunities to study the causal role of the anterior cingulate cortex and related areas in cognitive control.
The position will be for one year initially, with committed funding available for subsequent years. There may also be opportunities to collaborate with other addiction researchers. Available facilities also include a research-dedicated 3T Siemens Prisma fMRI scanner as well as EEG equipment and a full electronics shop. Information about the labs are available at http://www.indiana.edu/~cclab (Brown);https://finnlab.psych.indiana.edu/ (Finn), and https://medicine.iu.edu/faculty/11271/hulvershorn-leslie/ (Hulvershorn).
A Ph.D. and background in cognitive neuroscience and addiction, broadly defined, are required. Experience with Linux/unix and matlab or python is required. Prior experience with fMRI, electrical neurostimulation or transcranial magnetic stimulation, computational neuroscience, electrical engineering, and biophysics is preferred.
The position is available to start immediately, and applications received by January 1, 2019 will receive full consideration. To apply, send a CV, statement of research background and interests, and 3 letters of recommendation by email to: jwmbrown@indiana.edu. (Note that mailed paper applications and recommendations will not be accepted). Inquiries may be directed to Joshua Brown (jwmbrown@indiana.edu).
