As a Senior Software Engineer, you would work together with our Frontend, Backend, DevOps, and Instrument developers to help connect the dots between the individual components of our software architecture, and develop software that interacts with scientific instruments, drives scientific research, and yields new insights for scientists.  

Key Tasks: 

• Get to know (and work on) the entire product + infrastructure. 
• Understand the feature requirements and translate them to complete design specifications. 
• Work to improve our infrastructure, tooling, and tech stack. 
• Work with Scientists to identify user requirements and application needs. 
• Translate requirements into Epics, Stories, and Tasks.
• Collaborate with the team to design, code, and launch new features.
• Mentor junior team members with design reviews, code reviews, and discussions.
• Develop applications for our connected instruments and online Study Manager app.
• Developing technical documentation to guide future software development projects.
• Document and describe changes to make validated results accessible to users. 

Requirements: 

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer. 
• Experience building systems that interact with cloud services and APIs. 
• Knowledge of software stack security requirements and frameworks. 
• Strong software engineering skills across all phases of software development lifecycle. 

Our stack, apps, and environment: 

• JavaScript and TypeScript with the React web framework 
• Back-end web services (especially using RESTful style APIs or gRPC), in Go and the Echo Framework 
• Embedded firmware application with C++ and Mbed OS 
• Desktop UtilityHub application for downloading logs and updating firmware in Javascript / Electron
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) with ECS, RDS, S3 
• Relational and non-relational databases, including MongoDB and Elasticsearch
• Use of message bus based and event driven architecture (MQTT and Kafka)
• Work with scientific instrument and data analysis driven applications
• Working within life science industry
