Job Description

Summary 

This application is for a 6-month student role from January – June 2024. Resume review begins in October 2023. 

Translational Cellular Sciences (TCS) supports the Biogen portfolio by establishing human in vitro disease models from induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cells. TCS differentiates patient iPSCs to disease-relevant cell types to study disease phenotypes. 

 

Position Description 

TCS seeks a co-op to help support the development of new iPSC differentiation protocols. This position will be lab-based. Your primary responsibilities will include producing iPSC-derived neurons, characterizing the cells, and optimizing key steps in the differentiation protocol. You will come with a desire to learn from hands-on experience, and a willingness to work cooperatively with others.  

 

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture. Experience with iPSC culture is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with molecular biology skills including mammalian cell DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-PCR/qPCR  
  • Familiarity with cellular biology techniques including: immunocytochemistry, high-content imaging, image analysis, western blot, cell-based assays  
  • Ability to precisely document procedures and results in compliance with Electronic Lab Notebook guidelines  
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills   
  • Good oral and written communication skills  
  • Completed relevant coursework in Cell and Molecular Biology 

 

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university 

 

Education 

Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Biology, Biotechnology, or other relevant discipline
