Job Description Summary:

Hoglund Biomedical Imaging Center (Hoglund) invites applications for a Magnetic Resonance Scientist to join a multidisciplinary team that supports diverse research projects at the University of Kansas Medical Center and the region. The HBIC provides a rich, collaborative environment for imaging research in both animal models
and humans.

The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team at the HBIC and will serve a key role in collaborating with investigators to turn research questions into exciting, rigorously designed studies that take advantage of the full range of state-of-the-art imaging capabilities.

A major focus at Hoglund is the investigation of metabolic and physiologic changes in normal aging and neurologic diseases. This work builds on extensive MRS sequence development to quantify metabolites linked
to oxidative stress, antioxidants, and brain energy metabolism and contributes to studies in Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, nutrition, and muscle metabolism.

This position will develop analysis techniques for rigorous quantification of metabolic imaging signals measured using magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy (MRS) in collaborations with NIH-funded investigators. It requires substantial programming skills with strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving aptitudes. The successful candidate will provide design, data analysis, interpretation, and training support through collaborations with principal investigators on several projects. They will use their experience in MR technical development to create state-of-the-art methods to answer challenging biomedical and clinical questions
