Job Description
Position Summary
The mission of the Seáñez Lab is to develop neuro-rehabilitation tools and programs that promote active use of residual mobility, maximize recovery, and improve the quality of life of individuals with neurological disorders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a project aimed at understanding changes in neural excitability induced by spinal cord stimulation and motor learning. The postdoctoral researcher will take a lead role in designing and conducting experiments to assess how people with and without spinal cord injury learn to control their legs in a novel body-machine interface using wearable sensors. Experiments will use transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to evaluate corticospinal tract excitability induced by training.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Human Subjects Research:

- Design and conduct research experiments following instructions and discussions with principal investigator.
- Develop procedures for data collection and data analysis.
- Perform subject recruitment and obtain consent.
- Data Analysis:

- Develop data analysis pipeline for collected data.
- Perform statistical analysis for collected data and write interpretative reports.
- Verify data quality, data management, and make recommendations to improve.
- Dissemination of Research:

- Assist with grant preparation and grant/clinical trial reporting.
- Prepare and submit manuscripts based on research project.
- Present research at national and international conferences.
- Conduct literature searches related to research project.
- Train other lab recruits and lab members.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, neuroscience or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct human subjects research in neurophysiology.
- Programming skills: expertise in MATLAB and Simulink.
- Neurophysiology: Transcranial magnetic stimulation and neurophysiology of EMGs.
Salary Range
Base pay is commensurate with experience.
