Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate should be able to teach the following courses: Introduction to Brain and Behavior, Neuroscience Research Methods, and a course or courses in their specialty area. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach either Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology or Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience. Teaching in the Regis College core curriculum is also expected of all faculty members. Our department is committed to building a culturally diverse faculty and strongly encourages applications from minoritized candidates.

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is part of Regis College, the traditional undergraduate liberal arts college of Regis University, which is a Hispanic Serving Institution, serving approximately 1600 traditional undergraduate students (~60% of whom are students of color; ~30% of whom are first-generation college students). The department offers a B.S. degree in Neuroscience with approximately 50 majors. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field. The candidate should be dedicated to excellent undergraduate teaching, plan to maintain an active research program that engages motivated undergraduates, and be committed to mentoring students of color and first-generation students. The department has outstanding teaching and research facilities including an animal facility for housing rodents (equipped with a modern surgical suite and ample testing space), a dedicated wet lab for student/faculty research, and human subjects research spaces.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in neuroscience or related field.
  • Record of (or potential for) scholarly productivity.
  • Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, diversity, and equity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success mentoring students of color. Experience at a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) or institution/program focused on fostering success of students of color is desirable.
  • Successful teaching experience in higher education, including development of inclusive pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated success engaging undergraduates in research.

In accordance with its Jesuit Catholic mission, Regis University is committed to maintaining a humane atmosphere in which the civil rights of every individual are recognized and respected. At Regis University, the term “diversity” conveys our commitment to create and maintain an inclusive community where people of different religions, genders, sexual orientations, races, classes, and any other social distinctions can thrive in a learning environment characterized by mutual respect and the pursuit of justice. We seek to increase representation of faculty of color to better serve our diverse student population. As such, we especially welcome applications from diverse candidates. We are deeply and morally committed to social justice within the field of neuroscience; improving diversity, equity, and inclusion within our department; providing junior faculty with mentorship, resources, and an environment conducive to their professional growth, success, and advancement; and improving the academic experience for our diverse student population.
