We are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Design Technician V to join our Neuromodulation Engineering Team in Rice Creek, Minnesota. Our vision is to become the undisputed world leader in neuromodulation, improving patient lives through innovative solutions. A Day in the Life

As an Electrical Design Technician V, you will work with a team of Engineers to bring new products to the market. The focus of this role will be to provide Electrical Technician support for MR Safety Testing of Implantable Devices such as Neurostimulator systems for Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal Cord Stimulation, and Sacral Nerve Modulation. MR Safety testing includes Test Method development, bench testing, in-vivo testing and testing at commercial MRI scanners, data analysis, technical reviews, and report writing. You will support all aspects of MR Safety assessment for Implantable Neurostimulators.

 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support the definition, characterization, and verification of low-power electronics for Medtronic Neurological devices as part of the product development cycle
  • Work with complex Radio Frequency (RF) electronics and test equipment; define Engineering test environment; provide schematics to build prototype test boards; design and build test fixtures; create and work with LabView code
  • Work closely with other design teams (Electrical, Systems, Firmware and IC Design) to root cause design issues, Characterize, and ultimately Verify Electrical designs
  • Support Product Development activities such as equipment qualifications, non-product software validations, and test method validations
  • Develop protocols, collect data, perform basic data analysis, and prepare reports
  • Ensure personal understanding of all quality policy/system items that are applicable. Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work.
  • Global and domestic travel may be required  < 25 % of the time

 

Must Have:

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience

 

Nice to Have

  • Medical Device and industry experience
  • MR safety experience for Medical Devices
  • Experience with verification and validation of class III medical devices
  • Experience designing analog and digital circuitry on custom PCBs
  • Experience with RF electronics and test equipment
  • Experience developing automated test benches
  • Experience validating test scripts, methods, and systems  
  • Strong “hands on” skills, with an ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Computer skills in LabVIEW, Minitab, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
