The role

The Lab Technician will be responsible for helping to make our data collection events a success. Working closely with the Lab Specialist, and a team of other Lab Technicians, the chosen candidate will be critical to operationally creating and maintaining the most optimal conditions for the collection of valid experimental data.

 

Who we’re looking for

The ideal candidate is passionate about exploring the world of conducting scientific studies and running experiments. Current post-secondary students with an interest in a career in the field of research will gain hands-on, real world, experience in experimental design and execution. Candidates interested in marketing or neuroscience will also find this role interesting.

 

You should definitely:

  • Have strong attention to detail

  • Have a basic understanding of research studies and how they are conducted

 

You might also:

  • Be pursuing a relevant degree or career (statistics, marketing, economics, neuroscience, or similar)
  • Have a valid passport and are willing to travel occasionally
  • Be fluent in Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Mandarin
  • Have prior experience as a Teaching Assistant

 

What you’ll be doing

Lab Technicians will be required to facilitate in-person studies at our lab in Downtown Toronto. This includes:

  • Physical experimental set up
  • Participant check in
  • Participant seat allocation
  • Participant supervision and assistance during the study
  • Lab clean up and corrective action in between sessions
  • Other similar tasks as required

 

Additional details

  • Meals will be provided during your work shifts
  • Events will be mainly in Downtown Toronto
  • Opportunities travel outside of Toronto
  • Shifts will be allocated in four to eight hour increments. Most shifts will be on weekends or evenings, but occasionally some shifts may be during the day. We expect technicians to be available for at least two shifts each month.
  • Compensation starts at $22.50 to $25.00, commensurate with experience
