What We’re Looking For…
Working with a team of software professionals as our Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the software application team, establishing the software engineering outsourcing practice, and providing ongoing management of this function.
Your role will include:
Management
- Lead and manage the Software Application team to deliver new product introductions.
- Participate or delegate in all activities of software development and define the software architecture & design from appropriate stakeholders.
- Identifies project scope; coordinates with management or others to identify goals, time frame, and budget.
- Work with project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget.
- Coach and mentor the software application team.
- Ensure Saluda’s software application capability (team and skill set) can meet Saluda’s business needs.
- Define the product increments to meet the 1-year product roadmap
Outsourcing
- Provide advice to leadership on best practice and optimal outsourcing models
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of vendors.
- Build strong relationships with our vendors.
- Establish processes that will enable seamless integration of work with the Australian based Software Engineering teams.
- Provide guidance on change management or education around effective use of outsourced vendors.
- Identify project scope; coordinate with management or others to identify goals, time frame, and budget.
- Develop project plans including goals, identification of risks, budget, resource requirements, and communicates goals with the team.
- Develops, tracks, maintains, and manages project plan, budget, and timeline.
- Reporting on project updates, able to articulate ROI on outsourcing activities to senior leadership.
- Establish KPIs with outsourced organisations and work with leadership teams to meet and exceed the KPIs.
- Provide relevant training in Saluda workflows and projects.
- Problem solve with the outsourced team to resolve issues with KPIs, deadlines, processes, outcomes, turnover etc.
- Hold regular meetings with the outsourced team to ensure lines of communication are clear and issues are raised and resolved early.
General
- Work collaboratively across Saluda Software teams.
- Identify improvements and work with stakeholders for implementation of processes improvements across the organisation.
- Implement best software development and management practices.
- Ensures teams conform to organisational policies and procedures, ISO 13485, IEC 62304 and IEC 60601 requirements for medical product development.
About you:
- Proven experience and an aptitude for team building and management.
- At least 10 years’ experience in the design, development and testing of Software.
- Experience in system architecture development and software design.
- Actively maintain knowledge of latest software technology in industry.
- Previous experience managing outsourced providers.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
- Good understanding of and experience in project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Experience with and commitment to software development in a QA controlled environment.
- Knowledge of modern software development methodologies, and a variety of programming languages and software frameworks used in modern software development.
- Strong stakeholder management.
It’s not essential, but nice if you have:
- Experience in medical device design.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Experience in the Neuromodulation industry.
