Job Outline

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Dream Team to build, deploy and maintain our customer facing and data collection applications, creating the best product on the market, while ensuring our software is performant and reliable.

Your Mission

Build our software architecture from the ground up as engineer number one. You will lead the architecture and technology strategy, making all critical software decisions in line with company strategy. You lead the choice of architecture, the programming language, documentation style, testing regime – everything software.

You will be building the cloud architecture and mobile experience for the most advanced sleep neurotechnology wearable on the market today. You’ll be transforming and applying algorithms to vast amounts of health data, and in the future, using AI models to personalize user experiences. Most importantly – you will be making a real impact on our customers.

• Base Salary: $100,000 – 150,000

Your Responsibilities

• Responsible for user requirements, software design, programming, documentation, testing, and release
• Responsible for the design, creation, and management of the mobile app, API, and cloud infrastructure
• All software-related user requirements are fulfilled on-time and on-budget
• Software continues to run smoothly without crashes and development is fulfilled on-time and on-budget
• Manage the full software process – from Cloud Architecture to Front-End development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field such as physics or mathematics, or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in modern web and mobile app development, with a proven track record of building and shipping high-quality applications.
• Proficient in multiple modern web and mobile development languages.
• Proficient in full-stack development for cross-platform mobile applications
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g AWS ECS, Azure, Google Cloud, Heroku)
• Proficiency with containerization technologies (e.g Docker, Kubernetes)
• Proficiency with source control management tools (e.g Git)
• Proficiency in database strategy, creation, and management
• Experience with Devops processes and project-management best practices
• Experience working in a startup environment or part of a small team
• Experience working with sensitive health data (e.g. HIPAA, PIPEDA)
• Experience with Data Governance best practices is an asset
• Experience with web application security best practices
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, make architectural decisions, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams is an asset
• Experience with Bluetooth (preferred)
