Privacy Legal Counsel (m/f/d)
We invite you to become part of our Global Privacy team, offering vital support to businesses in Germany, Austria, Switzerland (DACH) and the Middle East and Africa regions, including Russia. At our core, we foster a culture that is collaborative, friendly, forward-thinking, and solution-driven.
#Your responsibilities:
The scope of this role will include negotiation of data processing agreements, general data protection advice, development of privacy and data protection trainings, as well as supporting the DPO on the management of data breaches and data protection audits in the relevant regions.
- Negotiating and amending data processing agreements based on company templates and assisting the European Data Protection Officer and local legal counsel in reviewing third-party data processing agreements
- Providing support in relation to data protection sections of other types of agreements such as master services agreements, professional services agreements and SOWs
- Providing privacy support regarding the launch of new projects and digital apps, including training to the business teams and advice on key privacy aspects
- Advising the Human Resources department on data protection related matters, including handling data subjects’ requests and implementation of data protection requirements in policies and procedures
- Preparing responses to regulators and individuals on privacy matters
- Assisting the European Data Protection Officer in the management of data protection audits in the territories under your purview
- Facilitating the development of privacy and data protection training and educational materials
- Providing support in relation to business development activities, including conducting due diligence, as they arise
- Assisting the European Data Protection Officer in the management of personal data breaches in the countries under your purview
- Remaining current on privacy and data protection developments and new legislations/regulations
#Your profile:
- 2-3 years’ experience of data protection compliance advisory work in private practice or in-house team in Germany is required
- Previous experience in providing privacy support in countries in the Middle East and/or Africa is a plus
- Mastery of German at native speaker level and ability to speak and write in English fluently are required; ability to speak and write in Arabic is a plus but not a requirement
- International Association of Privacy Professionals certification CIPP/E and/or Knowledge of industry standards affecting privacy and information security such as NIST and ISOO 27001/27002 preferred
- Familiarity with the Healthcare sector is advantageous
- Ability to work collaboratively and directly with dynamic, innovative business teams
- Capacity to operate independently and make decisions autonomously
- Pro-active attitude and approach towards continuous improvement
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey privacy concepts to non-legal stakeholders in a comprehensible manner
- Familiarity with technology and digital solutions
