STEM Montessori Academy of Canada (SMAC-SIAC) is a registered not-for-profit organization specializing in science, technology, engineering, and math. (STEM) programming is open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The SMAC will specialize in an advanced bar-none. STEM based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)

 

Who Should Apply?

STEM Montessori Academy of Canada is seeking Enthusiastic, engaging University students, Club facilitators, Instructors, or Teachers with expertise in the subject areas for online programming. STEM Canada is seeking instructors for our fall programming.

Shifts: Shifts are flexible according to your availability. Start times may vary. Commitment of one set time for 8 weeks at a time is expected (example Tuesday evenings from 6pm – 8pm for 8 weeks at a time – ** Time reference of 6pm – 8 pm for example purposes only – there is flexibility in the times based on availability)

Planned Start Date: ASAP

 

Candidates should be available for various shift times for consideration. This temporary contract is on an as-needed basis, and it is based on enrollment. The dates, shifts and hours are not guaranteed.

 

Weeks of Work: Ongoing until June 2024 in 8 week intervals.

Contract Length: 9-10 months

Part-time hours: 4 hours – 6 hours per week (based on your availability).

 

Position Description:

We are seeking a virtual Neuroscience Instructor who will help students learn about the all things Neuroscience . A passionate candidate who will:

  • create engaging lessons in the various subfields of Neuroscience like neurophysiology, biomechanics, neuroanatomy, and cognitive neuroscience.
  • assist our students to understand the fundamentals of Neuroscience, but to look to the future and think how they can make real life impact.

 

Duties:

  • Be creative and innovative in the time spent with the children by planning and executing activities online related to Neuroscience .
  • Must be comfortable creating meaningful content related Neuroscience activities for children between the ages 6-18 years in a virtual environment.
  • Be self-motivating and enthusiastic in carrying out the duties, fostering self- esteem, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ensure the atmosphere is inclusive, welcoming, and safe for all children.
  • Provide positive role-modelling for child participants and volunteers to the program, be always polite and helpful, smiling and greeting both parents and children.
  • Provide weekly reports on your program, complete appropriate attendance records, daily log, and program plans as required.
  • Be accepting of all children without regard to race, creed, religion, socioeconomic status.

 

Requirements:

Vulnerable Sector police clearance check – A MUST within the last 12-months from date of issue.

  • MUST be dependable and organized
  • Exhibit personal suitability and flexibility
  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous online teaching experience would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary students and grad students welcome to apply.
