Your role: AR/MR Unity Rapid Prototyper
Scope of Responsibilities
- Bridging the gap between BCI, NLP and AR in innovative ways to enable non-verbal individuals communicate in intuitive and personalized ways.
- Collaborate with the UX design team to explore new interaction approaches that leverage biosignal inputs in AR.
- Translate designs from Figma and other design tools into functional prototypes to enable rapid design iteration and user testing.
- Design, develop and test interactive prototypes on the Unity platform for Augmented, Virtual and Mixed reality environments across several platforms.
- Interface with production team to transfer knowledge and prototypes to a production environment.
- Coordinate and lead user studies to gather useability feedback from end users.
- Synthesize user study findings into actionable changes in the functional prototypes.
- Accountable for the development of a prototyping asset toolbox to enable rapid prototyping across the organization.
- Brainstorm and propose innovative ideas to contribute to the advancement of AR speech generating devices using NLP.
- Engage with the wider accessibility and XR community through industry forums and user groups.
Skills & Experience – Must Have
- Proficiency in Unity and C#
- Direct experience with at least one of MRTK, Unity XR Interaction Toolkit or OpenXR.
- Experience implementing the technical aspects of design documents.
- Experience interfacing with third party SDKs.
- Up to date on industry trends and emerging technology, especially in AR/VR/MR, NLP and AI technologies
- Ability to size and scope tasks with minimal guidance.
- Demonstrates understanding of algorithms and common design patterns.
- Ability to break down complicated tasks into bite-sized increments.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in or closely with a UX organization.
- Experience working with novel HMI hardware devices that are in-development.
- Experience with assistive technologies and alternative input methods.
- Experience working with a team of hybrid programmers.
- Experience with native mobile development for Android.
- Design tools (Figma/Sketch)
- Experience building and delivering Unity platform technologies or assets through the asset store.
- Understand and creates effective dynamic and static software design diagrams and specifications.
- Experience working in an agile software team.
Important Details
- Position can be remote, but Toronto or Santa Barbara based candidates preferred.
- Remote applicants MUST be eligible to work in Canada or USA for several weeks at a time.
- Periodic travel to Toronto Ontario and/or Santa Barbara California will be required.
