Description
New College of Florida is searching for a tenure-track Assistant or early Associate Professor (with a maximum of 3 years of credit toward tenure) in human neuroscience to begin Fall 2024. Neuroscience is both an important area of psychology and a joint program at NCF. The scholar we hire should be able and willing to teach courses and tutorials within the disciplines of Psychology and Neuroscience, at introductory through advanced levels. We are seeking a researcher who uses experimental approaches that probe human nervous system structure/function. Research focus is open, but could include areas such as behavioral neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, sensory neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, social neuroscience, or neuroendocrinology, or translational animal research with implications for human nervous system functioning.
The teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials. Faculty members also provide academic advising, supervise independent study projects, sponsor senior theses, and serve on baccalaureate committees. Professors are expected to maintain an active research program. We are particularly interested in candidates with a commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching.
New College is driven by a mission to be the best liberal arts college in America. New College, the nationally recognized honors college of the State University System of Florida, is an innovative liberal arts institution where students learn how to think, not what to think. Founded in 1960, the College has garnered national acclaim for its rigorous academics as students chart their own academic course with the assistance of faculty advisors and written assessments are given instead of letter grades. Conducting research is an important part of the undergraduate curriculum at New College with each student having to complete a senior thesis to graduate. The New College campus sits on the scenic Sarasota Bay and directly adjacent to one of the fastest-growing airports in the nation. The region consistently ranks among the best for quality of life, featuring world-famous beaches, historic architecture, and iconic fine & performing arts institutions.
Interested candidates should apply online at http://www.ncf.edu/employment and upload the following: a cover letter, c.v., teaching statement, and a research statement. In addition, please identify three scholars who can provide letters of recommendation (they will receive a request through the system). According to Florida law, applications and meetings regarding applications are open to the public upon request. For questions about the application process or accommodations, please contact Ms. Kristi Fecteau at kfecteau@ncf.edu.
Review of applications will begin December 18, 2023, and will continue until the position is filled.
