Position Summary
The Marketing Associate I supports the Marketing & Sales team, with a focus on producing professional-grade copy and other content for promoting organizational priorities, including membership, annual meeting attendance/abstract submission, scientific publications, and virtual events.
This position is Remote: Employees can work remotely as part of a 35-hour workweek with core hours from 10am-3pm Eastern time. A reliable high-speed internet connection is required.
Essential Job Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Writes clear, concise, and engaging multi-channel marketing copy adapted to diverse, scientific audiences and adhering to AP (Associated Press) and SfN-specific style guidelines.
- Edits, proofreads, and finesses copy with assiduous attention to detail, producing publish-ready content for emails and other channels accessed by thousands of members of academia and the neuroscience community.
- Takes initiative to thoroughly research and understand the audience and subject matter of the copy.
- Works with multiple departments and team members to coordinate intra- and interdepartmental reviews for marketing content, incorporating feedback and edits from multiple stakeholders.
- Using HubSpot platform, builds, formats, and tests marketing emails, using assiduous attention to detail to maintain brand identity, quality, and accuracy across all aspects of content.
- Works with Creative Services team to coordinate production of marketing materials requiring graphic design, ensuring timely submission of work requests.
- Keeps abreast of industry standards and innovations, identifying opportunities for improving quality and efficiency of marketing efforts.
- Assists with coordination of SfN’s Annual Meeting on-site marketing presence.
- Operates as staffing support during SfN’s Annual Meeting for one week each year (typically Fall timeframe).

Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English, Communications, Marketing, or comparable subjects.
- 2-3 years relevant work and/or internship experience.
Qualifications:
- Conscientious, practical, and extremely detail-oriented, with a strong eye for quality control.
- Highly skilled in copywriting, editing, and proofreading.
- Strong office automation skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software), as well as internet research skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and manage feedback diplomatically.
- Ability to work independently and remotely at an efficient pace, managing time to ensure projects meet key milestones and deadlines.
- Ability to adapt priorities to accommodate diverse perspectives and address changing needs and timelines.
Language Ability: Strong ability to read, write, and interpret documents, copy, etc. Ability to speak effectively before groups of other employees.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardization situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, the incumbent should be proficient in MS Office suite and be comfortable working with databases and learning new software.
