Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Neuroscience Job Description

Employment Duration: Temporary Full Time

Location: Burnaby (Hybrid)

Pay range: 55,000-65,000 annually

Biweekly hours: 72

 

A postdoctoral fellowship in computational neuroscience is available at Simon Fraser University (SFU) with an immediate start date. The Postdoctoral Fellow will join a cross- disciplinary team of researchers in Randy McIntosh’s lab at SFU’s Institute for Neuroscience and Neurotechnology. The lab’s research program involves computational modeling and brain imaging to explore changes in cognition across the lifespan and changes resulting from brain damage or disease. The program builds on an international collaboration that delivered TheVirtualBrain and integrates research efforts globally to accelerate research and translation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Virtual Brain models in health and/or disease. They will collaborate closely with the project team at SFU as well as with researchers across TheVirtualBrain consortium.

The postdoctoral fellowship includes travel expenses to one international conference per year as well as travel expenses for a visiting fellowship to a lab within TheVirtualBrain consortium. SFU also offers statutory and extended health and dental benefits to postdoctoral fellows.

 

Qualifications

  • PhD in neuroscience, applied mathematics, or related discipline
  • Training or work experience in computational neuroscience
  • Technical proficiency in Python, Linux
  • Experience in high performance computing an asset
  • Excellent scientific and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in diverse team settings

 

This is a 24-month appointment with the possibility of extension dependent upon funding.
