Founding Engineer – Head of Engineering
Savyn is looking to hire a founding head of engineering (Canada or US) to join our team, joining us on our mission to make mental healthcare for trauma and PTSD accessible, using neuroscience based therapies to reduce symptoms of PTSD including depression, anxiety and distress.
Our company is focused on building a platform that is based on equitable access, especially in vulnerable communities, to support both clinicians and patients the tools to heal, in short times so they can live to their full potential. We are a social impact organization, working towards SDG goals 3 (good health and well-being) and 10 (reducing inequities). Savyn’s founding team has lived experience with trauma as survivors of war.
Savyn has completed a clinical study demonstrating great patient outcomes in eight weeks and is already in-market serving refugee newcomers to Canada. Our study was completed at Sick Kids Research Institute, one of the leading research institutes in Canada, in adults diagnosed with PTSD.
Savyn is also venture backed by Forum Ventures.
As the Head of Engineering, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping and building the product as a hands-on leader, with the opportunity to build and lead a team down the road.
Founding Engineer & Team
The Founding Engineer brings a wealth of experience in product and engineering. You have ideally spent time in early-stage startups as a product/engineering leader at companies that are venture-backed health tech scale-ups. They have a deep background in health tech and life sciences companies and have also been a part of exited companies to Fortune 500’s. Backed by Forum Ventures Studio, you’ll work with a team of experienced startup operators and ex-founders from engineering, design, product, growth, and more to go from 0 to 1.

What We Are Looking For :
- A full-stack technical leader who is ready to dive headfirst into meaty technical and product challenges is a must.
- You’ve shipped non-trivial products that delight users end to end, and have spent time dealing with performant or scaling issues as the most senior developer on a team.
- You’re well-versed in a modern tech stack, and have expert fluency in the following: Python, NestJS, Postgres, GraphQL, Google.
- Proven technical acumen to make wise choices and take smart risks when dealing with ambiguous requirements under tight deadlines.
- Passion for impacting our planet through technology.
- You’ve worked in startups, and have demonstrated driving results while navigating uncharted territory.
- You thrive in an environment where you have agency.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Based in the US or Canada.

You are excited by the energy, focus, and ambiguity of an early-stage startup. You want to own the engineering stack end-to-end, and architect and build the core platform and integrations that enable our mission.
You find any of the below questions intriguing and challenging:
- How can we use data, automation, and AI to expedite and streamline the current experience of getting trauma therapies?
- How can we ensure our platform is easily extensible for future use cases in delivery of PTSD therapies, in conflict areas with low tech, or in highly integrated health tech environments like the EU/UAE?
- How can we design our core infrastructure to scale enough to handle millions of users and new customers?
- What engineering best practices should we instill to scale the team?
