Position Overview

Are you a program manager who wants to make a difference in medical imaging? If so, then you’ve come to the right place! We seek a program manager interested in tackling development challenges as we scale up our pre-clinical imaging systems for human use. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated but collaborative and interested in getting a complex project organized, planned, and efficiently executed. As an individual contributor, you will organize the execution tasks of a high-functioning engineering team of ~10.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required
  • 5+ years’ experience in Program, Project, or Engineering Management
  • Expert in Program and Project Management concepts and methodology
  • Knowledge of both HW and SW development concepts, with primary expertise in HW program execution
  • Clear and active communicator – verbally and in writing with exceptional organizational skills. Must be fluent in English.
  • Authorized to work on a full-time basis in the United States or Canada. Will sponsor TN visas.

 

Preferred
  • Deep experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other relevant technical fields, with a preference for expertise in EE and software-heavy medical device development (e.g., medical imaging, Software as a Medical Device)
  • A track record of successful delivery of complex programs within the medical device, semiconductor, or aerospace industry
  • Experience working successfully with multiple OEM partners, machine shops, and critical component/solution providers

 

What you’ll do:

Program Management
  • Assesses risks and identifies solutions to timely, efficient achievement of program goals.
  • Serves as the key interface with stakeholders and leadership internally and with vendors.
  • Owns and maintains the management software infrastructure (e.g. Jira, Polarion, etc.) necessary for engineering execution.
  • Partner with executive leadership and subject matter experts (e.g. imaging, biology, software, mechanical, electrical, etc.) within the organization to direct programs/projects/tasks

 

Project Management
  • Oversees identifying and assigning tasks, finding dependencies, determining costs, assigning resources, and communicating expectations to core team members.
  • Uses an advanced understanding of the technical concepts, architecture, systems, development methods, and disciplines associated with the defined projects and utilizes knowledge to accelerate project completion.
  • Exercises judgment and discretion to develop solutions, remove obstacles, and redefine approaches.
  • Creates/tracks/adjusts the program and project schedules, ensures schedules are met, and communicates adjustments clearly and timely with management.
  • Ensures that quality standards and budget constraints are met.

 

Engineering program management infrastructure you will own:
  • Supporting engineering by managing the overall product development process during product development with clear phase-gate milestones to ensure high-quality documentation output (Product Life Cycle Management in Polarion)
  • Supporting engineering by scheduling project tasks and dependencies to ensure phase-gate milestones are met to support overarching program goals (Project Management in Jira)
  • Supporting engineering by driving a coherent documentation management architecture to ensure high-quality engineering documentation outputs (Product Documentation Management in Solidworks Vault and Altium Vault)

 

Reports to: CTO

Classification: Full-time, salaried, exempt

Schedule: Regular full-time working hours, ability to work evening hours and overtime as needed.

Workplace Location: This position is 100% in-person or hybrid. As a hybrid, the employee is expected to be in the Alameda, CA office for 60% of their time.
