Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team as a full- stack developer. The person who fills this role will develop software as part of a medical- device product that empowers individuals with severe physical disabilities to control a computer and communicate effectively with others via a brain-computer interface.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop components of a performant, parallelized, and robust software architecture for processing high-dimensional time-series data and metadata.
  • Create reliable, high-throughput communication protocols between various components of the overall product, including a variety of hardware and software systems.
  • Design, develop, and integrate UI components in collaboration with frontend engineers to provide a seamless and robust user experience.
  • Work collaboratively within our small software team to iterate on development of software components and on integration of components and systems into broader software applications.
  • Design and implement rigorous unit- and system-level testing to verify software integrations.
  • Maintain and ensure rigorous code development across software applications at the standard required for a medical product.
  • Follow proper coding practices and FDA regulatory-compliance guidelines to create well-documented, verifiable, and easily reproducible code.
  • Contribute to and maintain documentation in a Quality Management System, as appropriate.

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Has extensive experience and can demonstrate a portfolio of work in full-stack software development.
  • Is fluent in a variety of software languages and professional software-development practices.
  • Is highly motivated to work on fast-paced projects that will make a positive impact on quality of life for patients.
  • Has experience working with embedded systems and communication protocols between high- and low-level software
  • Can communicate clearly and eHectively and enjoys working closely as part of a small team while also being capable of making independent contributions to the overall eHort.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (Rust, C, and C++ are preferred) for developing desktop applications.
  • Experience with developing software as a medical device (preferred but not required).
