About Us

We are a new stealth company working on transformative, patent-pending technology to vastly improve the lives of patients with severe physical disabilities. We are building a highly interdisciplinary team to translate clinically proven designs and methods into impactful and restorative products for patients.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior UI/UX Engineer to join our growing team. The person who fills this role will develop software for highly accessible, flexible, and intuitive UIs as part of a larger application that empowers individuals with severe physical disabilities to control a computer and communicate effectively with others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement desktop-application UIs according to requirements and specifications to provide a complete, intuitive, and enjoyable user experience to product users.
  • Develop software for GUIs that can integrate closely with operating-system features and third-party accessibility APIs to provide a seamless and feature-rich user experience.
  • Gain and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the needs of our target patient populations to support effective UI design and development.
  • Contribute to user research and formative usability testing, including the development of effective and representative prototypes; formative, verification, and validation testing approaches; and the design and analysis of key outcome metrics.
  • Work collaboratively within our small software team to iterate on UI design and integrate UI code into the broader software infrastructure.
  • Follow proper coding practices and FDA regulatory-compliance guidelines to create well-documented, verifiable, and easily reproducible code.
  • Contribute to and maintain documentation in a Quality Management System, as appropriate.

Ideal Candidate

  • Has extensive experience and can demonstrate a portfolio of work in UI/UX software development, particularly with UIs that drive or are highly integrated into operating systems.
  • Has a deep and intuitive understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
  • Is highly motivated to work on fast-paced projects that will make a positive impact on quality of life for patients.
  • Can communicate clearly and effectively and enjoys working closely as part of a small team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in UI/UX software development.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (Rust, C++, Dart are preferred) and UI design and development frameworks (Figma, Qt, Flutter are preferred) for developing desktop applications.
  • Experience with developing software as a medical device [preferred but not required].

What We Offer

  • An opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge projects to transform patients’ lives.
  • A highly collaborative work environment.
  • Competitive compensation ($140,000 – $170,000; plus stock options).
  • Full benefits package.
  • Optional 401k program.
