Professor/Associate Professor
The Faculty of Psychology’s Department of Psychosocial Science has a vacancy (full time) for preferably a Professor, alternatively an Associate Professor, of Cognitive Psychology.
Work tasks/research field:
- Tuition, guidance and grading on cognitive psychology and the subject areas of human reasoning, judgement and decision- making
- Other teaching duties may also be included at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level
- Design and guide theoretical and empirical research projects for students of cognitive psychology
- Take part in administrative duties and participating in committee work
- Participate in the Department’s research on cognitive psychology, contribute towards the development of national and international cognitive psychology research networks, and initiate and participate in writing applications.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
- Applicants must have a PhD in psychology when applying for this position
- Applicants must possess expertise in cognitive psychology, especially within the areas of human reasoning, judgement and decision making
- Applicants should preferably possess competence as professor in cognitive psychology
- Applicants must be able to provide evidence of relevant research on cognitive psychology
- Applicants should preferably be certified psychologists or comply with the requirements for such certification when applying for this position
- Applicants should preferably possess experience in respect of clinically relevant fields relating to cognitive psychology
- Applicants should preferably possess broad methodological experience
- Applicants must be able to work independently and in a structured manner
- Applicants must possess good communications and collaborative skills and be able to cooperate well with colleagues and students
- Applicants must possess the ability to create a good learning environment
- Basic pedagogical training is a requirement for this position. The successful applicant will be offered such training if this requirement has not been met prior to being appointed.
- Tuition will primarily take place in Norwegian, but lectures will also be held in English. It is essential that the successful applicant is able to provide tuition in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language within two years of being appointed, and that he/she has a good command of verbal and written English when appointed.
We can offer:
- A good and professionally challenging working environment
- A grade 77 – 85 salary (code 1013) in accordance with the Norwegian government’s Collective Wage Agreement. This currently amounts to a gross annual salary of NOK 731,000 – 921,900. If not enough adequately qualified applicants apply for the position of Professor, we may appoint an Associate Professor. The salary for an Associate Professor will be in accordance with salary grade 67-74 (1011/salary framework 24, alternative 8 – 10) in accordance with the Norwegian government’s Collective Wage Agreement. This currently amounts to a gross annual salary of NOK 597,000 – 681,800. If applicants are particularly well qualified, a higher salary may be considered.
