ABOUT THE PROJECT
Are you passionate about neuromodulation and eager to contribute to cutting-edge research in epilepsy treatment? The 4BRAIN research group is offering a PhD position within an ambitious, interdisciplinary, international project focused on Temporal Interference Stimulation (TIS) as an innovative treatment for epilepsy. TIS is a novel neuromodulation technique capable of targeting deep brain structures in a non- or minimally invasive manner. You will play a central role in the preclinical research activities of the project.
YOUR JOB
- Perform preclinical experiments on ex vivo brain slices and in vivo rodent models to investigate and optimize the effects of TIS
- Analyze ex vivo and in vivo electrophysiological and fMRI imaging datasets
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers in hardware development and modeling
- Publish your findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences
- The ultimate goal of the research is to obtain a doctoral degree
Job profile
- Master’s degree in (bio)medical sciences, biomedical engineering or related discipline
- Experience and/or strong interest in preclinical research, neuromodulation, electrophysiology and (f)MRI imaging
- Strong motivation to engage in groundbreaking preclinical research
- Collaborative and dynamic mindset with the ability to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary research environment
- Scientific attitude focused on excellence, with creativity, precision, problem-solving skills and effective planning abilities
- Excellent command of the English language and strong communication skills.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow, consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which – after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.

- The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by Team Personnel Administration based on family status and seniority.
