At Interaxon, we develop engaging experiences using brain sensing technology. We are a passionate team of researchers, technical experts and scientists building the world’s leading science-based brain platform to empower personal transformation through human-centred innovation. Our Muse and Muse 2 headbands are designed to make meditation easier and provide real-time audio and visual feedback on your meditative state through the Muse companion app.

As a PEY Student on our Apps team, you have an interest, and some experience, developing native iOS and Android applications, are skilled at working in a team agile environment, and are dedicated to building products that users love.  Your code will be deployed to production and will be used by thousands of users every day.

Our Tech Stack:

• Common code built with C++.
• Native Swift iOS Applications.
• Native Java/Kotlin Android Applications.
• Python/Flask back-end on Google Cloud.
• Builds running on Circle CI.

What you’ll be doing:

• Working collaboratively across teams to define the problem, discuss and debate technical design options to get to the right solution.
• Building new app features, unit tests and automated UI tests based on agreed-upon specifications.
• Resolving defects within our codebase to improve overall App quality.
• Documenting your technical designs to educate others.
• Testing code, ensuring high test coverage and shipping code that you are proud of.
• Learning and improving on existing technology, code and platforms.
• Taking on projects across the stack: front-end Swift/Kotlin, back-end C++, and everything in between.

Your skills and experience:

• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and computer science principles
• Ability to learn quickly and jump between a variety of code bases, tools, and apps
• Understanding of mobile development
• Experience building native iOS or Android Apps is a plus
• Comfortable in Git
• Familiarity with software development life cycle and agile methodology.
• Familarity with UI and UX design principles and a good eye for what looks good.
• Experience with unit testing and end-to-end testing methodologies.
• Experience with complex build systems like Cocoapods, Fastlane, Circle CI (asset)
• Basic understanding of client/server communication (asset)
