PostDoc- Eye Movement Adaptations to Visual Impairment

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral research fellow to investigate eye movement adaptations to visual impairment in people with degenerative retinal disease such as macular degeneration or diabetic retinopathy. This is an NIH-funded, collaborative project between Peter Bex at Northeastern University and Nicole Ross at New England College of Optometry.

The successful candidate will be based in Dr. Bex’s lab in the Department of Psychology at Northeastern University and will also complete studies in Dr. Ross’ nearby clinic at New England College of Optometry. They will learn a range of behavioral, oculomotor and retinal imaging methodologies for application in healthy and visually-impaired populations. Northeastern University is located in the heart of Boston with a vibrant and collaborative community of faculty, postdoctoral, graduate and undergraduate researchers. Northeastern University has excellent facilities including fMRI and electrophysiology.

Candidates should have a PhD in a behavioral science with experience in human vision research, eye movement data, strong computational skills and programming experience (MATLAB, Python). Clinical research expertise is not a prerequisite for this post, however an interest in clinical vision science is essential. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of extension up to five years. Salary will follow the NIH payscale.
