Lab Manager

 

Brain Power is actively seeking a technical Lab Manager to manage a wide range of administrative and technical tasks. This job is similar to a “Lab manager” position in a typical academic or medical research lab at a university or hospital, if you are familiar with that role. Your daily work will include researching technical products and solutions to Brain Power needs, data entry, scheduling, basic IT and SysAdmin tasks, finding ways to optimize the team and processes, managing online accounts and services, communicating with team members including senior staff, communicating with vendors and suppliers, keeping checklists and records, running errands, and various tasks that come up from time to time.

You should be highly energetic, creative, technically-minded, extremely flexible, extremely organized, experienced in Trello, Slack, Google Drive, Dropbox, and/or other productivity and co-working packages, digitally native in everything you do, a great multi-tasker, and absolutely committed to getting the task at hand done.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a routine and process for checking in with members of the staff.
  • Research products, needs, and solutions – usually technical.
  • Keep projects on time and do coordination, in conjuction with project leads: for projects such as IRB and grant submissions and publishing scientific papers.
  • Help manage our file server and basic network.
  • Communicate with partners.
  • Communicate with vendors.
  • Meet with senior staff members and translate their needs and words into relevant text or email drafts.
  • Run errands.
  • Generally keep things running smoothly.
