The Opportunity
Cala Health is seeking a Firmware Engineer to join our growing team. This individual will
work on the stack from hardware support to the application itself, leading the
development of new firmware technology on low power, wearable embedded systems.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Develop support for hardware / peripherals including motion sensors, flash memory, analog hardware, wireless communication.
- Develop application and system drivers.
- Develop system technologies, such as data management and transport.
- Implement data processing algorithms in a timely, efficient manner.
- Implement user interfaces.
- Optimize code for low power applications.
- Complete all engineering documentation related to assigned projects including plans, technical reports, project notebooks, and design input, technical drawings.
- Work with the Regulatory/Quality department to ensure that design and test specifications for the system meet or exceed all applicable regulatory standards and all risks are identified and mitigated to an acceptable level.
- Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures, the Quality System Regulation, ISO/MDD regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a professional, credible image with key physicians, consultants, suppliers, and co-workers.
Desired Skills and Experience
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- 3-5 years experience working in firmware applications for wearables and ultra low power / ultra small footprint design
- Experience with microcontrollers, including Cortex M0, M3, M4
- Experience with relevant technologies such as WiFi, BLE, 3G/4G, hardware debug, sensors
- Experience with C is a must, Python 2.7.x/3.6.x is a plus
- Prior experience in the Medical Device industry is a plus
- Preference for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
