JOB DESCRIPTION:
At OpenBCI we are building the next generation of low-cost, high-quality human-computer interfaces. We are a growing team of ambitious entrepreneurs, engineers, designers, and scientists. We are on the lookout for an experienced creative technologist who has engineering and design expertise across multiple domains. To be considered for this role you need to be a jack-of-all-trades, with experience ranging from writing organized code, to hardware prototyping and productization, to designing beautiful videos and graphics. You don’t need to be an expert at any of it, but you need to be great at all of it!
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work closely with the Head of Hardware and Software Architect to design, produce, and test high-quality hardware, firmware, and software.
- Create exciting product demos and tutorials for the OpenBCI community and for PR/marketing initiatives
- Act like the engineering and design glue. You’re main function is to help out where necessary, making sure all of the pieces of OpenBCI’s platform play nicely together and are easy for our customers to work with!
- Maintain the OpenBCI Learning pages. We pride ourselves in the documentation that supports our hardware and software. Your job will be to make sure this information is well-organized and exciting to explore!
- Wear many hats. OpenBCI is still a small company, so everyone has to get their hands dirty from time to time. We help each other out when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree in engineering or design.
- 3+ years as a professional creative technologist.
- Experience with software and firmware troubleshooting.
- Experience with analog electronics and PCB design.
- Experience with applied machine learning techniques.
- Experience with C, C++, Java, Python, Javascript, Node, React, Unity.
- Experience with front-end engineering and web design (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.).
- Knowledge of industry best practices for designing, implementing, and maintaining software and open source repositories.
- Self-motivated and well-organized.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to identify and solve problems across teams and an open source community.
PREFERRED SKILLS:

- Experience with all operating systems (MacOS/Windows/Linux).
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of non-invasive electrophysiological data processing (EMG, ECG, EEG).
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of handling image/camera/video data.
- Experience with Android/iOS app development
- Experience writing firmware, contemporary radio communication protocols, and low-level software code.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of applied machine learning techniques.
