Job Description:
The primary responsibility is to perform root cause electrical failure analysis and characterization of a medical implantable neurostimulator and the associated external support equipment and applying analysis findings to assess risk to associated production.
Responsibilities:

- Conduct root cause analysis of electrical failures that occur at any level of assembly including wafer, chip scale package, circuit board assembly, and final device both from manufacturing test and field returns.
- Gain an understanding of the custom integrated system on a chip, the automated test systems, Python and TCL scripting to characterize hardware.
- Understand the application of various analysis techniques available at local labs to support failure analysis.
- Communicate failure analysis findings accurately and concisely to management verbally and in well documented written reports.
- Analyze the scope of the risk associated with each failure mode.
- Create and maintain a searchable repository of failure investigations.
- Propose and implement methods for tracking failure trends.
- Work with Quality Engineering to propose and implement corrective action.
- Work with Clinical Engineering and Quality Engineering to address field return due to suspected failures.
Requirements:

- Bachelor’s of science in electrical engineering and a minimum of 5+ years previous experience. Prior failure analysis experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of semiconductor and printed circuit board design, manufacturing processes, test, and analysis.
- Experience in failure analysis and versed in failure analysis tools and techniques.
- Able to work independently or to assemble and manage an interdisciplinary team of in-house and outsourced resources as needed to conduct analysis.
- Able to work with manufacturing personnel to understand manufacturing processes and how they relate to failure modes.
- Able to work with automatic test equipment to understand how tester characteristics relate to failure modes.
- Outstanding communication and record keeping skills are absolutely essential.
