Principal Software Engineer – Patient Experience Team

What you’ll do…

    • Develop software used by patients for post-surgery physical rehabilitation written in C# utilizing the Unity game engine.
    • Create and maintain Development group Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with a focus on continuous integration
    • Scrum coordination with development team and test team
    • Participate in all aspects of the Agile process, including story creation, reviews, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
    • Manage sprint planning and standup meetings
    • Ensure adherence to the SOPs to maintain compliance to corporate and regulatory standards
    • Implementation of a workflow standard for the full project life-cycle.
    • Generate technical documentation and engender a culture where all engineers contribute to adequate documentation on an ongoing basis.
    • Contribute to and foster a culture that values automated testing and/or TDD.
    • Perform code reviews, with awareness of our regulated environment.
    • Work with Product Management and Product Owners to refine requirements.
    • Integrate closely and frequently with Engineering Test department to aid manual, integration and automated testing.
    • Facilitate requests to and from external engineering departments, e.g. cloud dev, DevOps, IT, hardware, R&D.
    • Participate in requirements reviews, and test case reviews, and contribute to team and personal learning.
    • Work to resolve field support issues escalated to engineering.
    • Present team dependencies, requirements, and achievements to non-technical external teams, e.g. Clinical, Sales, Marketing, Infrastructure, Compliance.
    • Excellent communication skills and desire to communicate effectively.
    • Coordinate with external developers and content providers.
    • Participate in the hiring process including job fairs and internships.

 

 What you’ve done…

    • Worked 5 to 10 years on relevant software development projects
    • Worked 2 to 5 years as a planner/coordinator/scrum master
    • Earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MS preferred
    • Developed software using: C# preferred, C++/Java acceptable
    • Delivered high-quality, interactive products used by non-technical users.
    • Developed within Gamedev (Unity particularly) preferred, but work in simulations (in or out of health care) or embedded/real-time systems acceptable.
    • Managed a large Git project: LFS, managing cloud platforms’ limitations around PRs, Gitflow-style branch management with multiple field releases
    • Learned strong analytical skills – to problem solve and develop complex algorithms
    • Developed a dynamic personality that is goal and solution oriented and able to work in a team environment
    • Experienced working in an Agile environment, and developed passion for working within it
    • Learned strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Acquired a positive, customer-focused attitude
    • Demanded Strong organizational skills
    • Created a detail-orientated, accountable work style.

    • Experience in medical device design (preferred)
    • Knowledge of hardware and networks
    • A background in User Interface design
    • Experience in Machine Learning development
    • Strong interest in technical team leadership and desire to be a mentor.
