27 Jun Neuroimaging Scientist
POSITION DETAILS
Job Title: Neuroimaging Scientist
Location: New York
Job Category: Neuroscience
JOB SUMMARY
We seek a highly motivated scientist/bioengineer with experience investigating neural circuits using advanced technologies. The initial responsibilities of the role are to design and implement experiments to study the effects of gut-brain axis activation on neuronal responses in select CNS areas through optical recording with fiber photometry. These studies are part of larger efforts to elucidate how gut-derived hormonal and neural signals modulate brain function that provide ample opportunity to undertake greater responsibilities.
Candidates must have extensive experience with optical recording in mouse models and a proven ability to successfully complete scientific projects. They must also work well both collaboratively and independently and possess outstanding written, visual and oral communications skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
- Setting up a suite of fiber photometry recording systems
- Performing necessary logistical support (e.g., organizing availability of mouse models and compounds) for optical recording experiments
- Designing, implementing, and interpreting fiber photometry optical recording experiments in selected brain areas
- Communicating results to a broad audience of scientific colleagues
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
-
- You must have:
- PhD in neuroscience, bioengineering, or related area
- Expertise in optical recording
- 5+ years of experience in mouse experimental models (e.g. surgery, viral injection, behavioral testing, physiology, transgenic mice)
- Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets
- You must have:
