Summary
The National Sales Manager has the primary responsibility to ensure maximum sales success by accurately identifying the sales potential of customers and accounts plus effectively coaching their DSMs/ABMs (Regional managers / Hospital Sales representatives) Multiple Sclerosis (MS) – Spinal Muscular Athrophy (SMA) team to realize the potential in each account, always following the strong governance principles implemented in Biogen.
Job Description
Having a strong impact in the organization, the National Sales Manager focuses its effort on ways to optimize Biogen sales success by:

- Leading a team of District Sales Managers/Area Business Managers by inspiring and motivating their team, providing strategic direction and supporting the development of territory plans to maximize business return
- Developing a coaching framework for the team, providing ongoing feedback and ensuring the design and implementation of development plans
- Working very closely with all functions, namely Value & Access, Medical and CE&O to align and coordinate the strategy implementation in the field
- Establishing sustainable and professional relationships with key Medical Experts at national level
- Acting as a positive change agent who pro-actively disseminates appropriate information to key stakeholders
- Keeping the organization informed of sales & DSM/ABM performance, together with the status regarding the implementation of the Brand Plan, through accurate monthly reports
- Liaising with Brand Teams to ensure brand consistency and superior operational excellence
- Acting as catalyst of overall affiliate excellence and innovation
- Staying up-to-date with new product launches and market trends, ensuring sales team members are on board
- Supporting the affiliate ongoing efforts to ensure business growth on a sustainable way
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Sales Excellence
- Owns and delivers on sales targets and other key sales metrics, working in close collaboration with CE&O to setup the right KPIs, sales targets and incentive scheme
- Sales Strategy
- Designs, develops and implements a “Sales Strategic Plan” and “DSM/ABM Territory Plans” with short term milestones & monitoring measures to maximize sales performance
- Team Coaching and Development
- Effectively coaches the sales team (DSMs/ABMs) to develop and reward good performance and behavior as well as effectively managing poor performance
- Know-How
- Have a good understanding of the Farmaindustria code, Biogen SOPs, Biogen MS-SMA products and competitors to interact with KOLs, coach the sales team and effectively participate in brand planning meetings
- Key Medical Experts
- Identify and develop strong relationships with key medical experts on the field of Neurology to build confidence and loyalty in Biogen, its people and its products
- Business Acumen
- Have a high degree of business acumen to provide insights and explanations in monthly reports regarding the market trends and sales figures, contributing to Senior Management understanding of the market and proper decision-making
- Sales Excellence
Qualifications

- Minimum 6+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Advanced analytical & strategic skills
- Thrive on challenge and will be highly collaborative, perceptive, an analytical problem solver, and exhibit strategic and innovative agility
- Someone who manifests trust, and is known for ethics and integrity, and works successfully in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills and a strong personal presence
- Excellent Leadership and Motivational skills including:

- Track record of driving change management internally

Education
-
- Degree in Life Sciences preferred
- Experience driving Commercial Management type of functions
- Able to provide input into national strategy and implement agreed plans
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Microsoft Powerpoint & Word skills
- Marketing experience is preferred
