Brief Description of Duties:

The Senior Postdoctoral Associate will support the Laboratory for Computational Neurodiagnostics at Stony Brook University (LCNeuro). The incumbent will function as Study Coordinator for a newly funded neuroimaging study: Protecting the Aging Brain: Self-Organizing Networks and Multiscale Dynamics Under Energy Constraints. The project integrates computational neuroscience modeling with pharmacological intervention and neuroimaging data, in order to understand, predict, and ameliorate the impact of metabolic changes associated with brain aging.

The project is based at Stony Brook University (Stony Brook NY). However, the incumbent will be based in Boston MA, where all data collection will occur at the A.A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging (Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School). Because the incumbent will be independently coordinating across medical teams, patients, and scanning—as well as interfacing with our researchers at Stony Brook—the position requires a high level of discretion, judgment, collaboration and initiative to accomplish goals. We seek someone who is highly meticulous, responsible, and mature.

The incumbent will work with an internet-based study recruitment service to identify potential subjects who have been pre-screened for general criteria. He/she will then follow up to confirm eligibility criteria and schedule informed consent and medical screening at Massachusetts General Hospital.

    • Carry out data collection (N=60) using 7T fMRI at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.
    • Carry out data collection (N=24) using MR-PET at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.
    • Administrative work, including subject payment, assistance with IRB paperwork, ordering of supplies.
    • Data processing and analyses of neuroimaging (fMRI, MRS, DTI and/or PET data).
    • Assistance with preparation of related manuscripts disseminating results.
    • Other duties assigned.
