The position is part of the project: Transparent EEG for Monitoring Noise Perception in Everyday life (TEMPEL). We seek to better understand why some people are severely distracted by environmental noise while others are not. To address this question we use mobile ear-centered electroencephalography (EEG) and study auditory perception in every-day situations. Key questions for this position are: How can we analyze severely artifact-contaminated EEG data? How can we avoid artifacts? How can we reduce artifacts during post-processing? Your task will be to acquire long term EEG in everyday situations and to develop methods to predict, prevent and reduce artifacts.

We are seeking a resourceful and inquisitive person with an academic university degree (master or equivalent) in biomedical engineering, computer science, neuroscience, psychology or a related discipline. Substantial experience in biomedical signal processing is required (e.g. during your master thesis or another research project). Experience with EEG or related recording techniques is a plus. Since you will work closely with other researchers on related topics, you should have good communication skills, be able to convey complex ideas comprehensibly, and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team. Fluency in oral and written English is necessary.
